That is not a small thing. Most people would rather stay comfortable inside a story they already know how to survive.

Start here
Open the guide and read the Introduction and Chapter 1, pages 2 to 9. That is where I tell you about the vigil, and where you get the one question the entire book runs on: is his faith a performance for an audience, or a discipline when no one is watching.
Turn to the reflection at the end of Chapter 1 and answer the four questions in writing, not just in your head. Sit longest with the second one, about the moment you noticed something and talked yourself out of it. Then pray the prayer on that page. It is short. Say it slowly.
Read Chapter 2, pages 10 to 14, and do the Scorecard Shift exercise at the end. It swaps the questions you inherited from church and family for the ones Scripture actually asks. This is usually where things start to click.
That is your first 24 hours. Nothing else. Do not try to finish the whole book tonight, because the chapters in Part Two ask more of you than the ones before them, and you will want to be rested for that.
Before you go
Reading this book will make you clearer. Only using it will make you different, and that part happens slowly, in ordinary moments, long after the reading itself feels finished.
Be gentle with yourself as you go. Some chapters will name things you have been carrying alone for years, and that is uncomfortable before it becomes freeing.
